The reliability and accurate advantages of the Parrot Clip are an outcome of the new METAL TIP, which performs the direct contact and the connection with the spring loaded steel hooked rod. The Metal tip is soldered, at the other end, to the flexible lead of the probe.
The Metal Tip provides
1) sharp, low resistance direct contact for hands-on measurements and
2) reliable, low resistance, double metal connection with the spring loaded steel hook, for hands-free measurements.


The Parrot™ Clip Invention, awarded the Gold Medal at the World Faire of Inventions, Brussels 1991 provides
8 major advantages
toward the other test probes, test leads, and test clips (alligator clip, one hook clip, two hooks clip, etc):
1) High insulation
2) Accessibility in narrow places
3) Low contact resistance
4) Low connection resistance
5) Reliable mechanical connection
6) Reliable connection at high temperatures
7) Capability of placing or removing components
8) Light body, preventing detachment of the clip.


 
  PARROT™ CLIP

1) High insulation - 1000V 
2) Good accessibility, can be used in small, narrow places

3) Low point contact, hands-on resistance = approximately 3 mohm (metal tip with sharp edges)

4) Low clip-on, hands-free connection resistance = approximately 3 mohm (made between two metal parts)

5) Reliable connection at high temperatures

6) Can be used for placing or removing components

7) Slip-on terminals/pins measurement capabilities 

8) Light body, preventing detachment of the clip-on connection due to its weight

ALLIGATOR CLIP
- Poor accessibility in small narrow places
- Poor point contact measurement capabilities

- Low insulation < 50 V

ONE HOOK CLIP PROBE
- Poor and uneasy point contact measurement (needs continous finger pressing and is made with a round side of the hook)
- Poor clip-on contact resistance, (made between plastic and metal parts); 

- Gets worse at high temperatures

TEST LEAD 
- No clip-on measurement capability
- No tip insulation

TWO HOOKS CLIP PROBE
- Poor and uneasy point contact measurement
- Heavy body. Can detach clip-on connection by its weight.

Former test probes, test leads, test clips (alligator clip, one hook clip, two hooks clip, etc), can't be much developed to meet new quality and reliability requested by users of the new multimeters, oscilloscopes, voltmeters, DMM, ohmmeters, spectrum analyzers
